You will need a GPS device or a GPS navigation app on your smartphone, and be sure to pack a
pen or pencil to note your answers along the trail.
Treasure Hunt in the Wetland WoodsFamilies with children who are looking for a special outdoor challenge will really love this GPS treasure trail. Explore the nature reserve while
solving some fairly tricky questions, and then discover the treasure at the end!
The trail covers around four kilometres. Please note that the trail may become impassable due to flooding if the water
level in Düsseldorf exceeds 3.5 metres. Unfortunately, the trail is not suitable for prams and pushchairs or wheelchairs. The trail starts in the car park at the caravan campsite in Monheim-Baumberg, and
ends around 1.3 kilometres from there. To get back to the starting point, you can either walk (takes about 30 minutes) or take the bus (no. 788).
The Rhine, Floods, & Historical FactsThis treasure trail is ideal for visitors who want to explore the shared history of people and nature in this area, leading you to historic
sites in the village of Urdenbach and fascinating landscape features in the Urdenbacher Kämpe nature reserve. The questions you solve as you go highlight surprising details you might otherwise have
missed.
Sensible shoes
Please remember that the wetlands really can be rather wet and the paths muddy, so be sure to don
adequate footwear!
Sensible dogs
Although it may seem a shame when you look at all that open space, please keep your dog on the lead at all times. Roaming dogs may disturb nesting birds
and young hares in hedges and bushes, and foul the grass and hay meant for horses and cattle.
